Carbon dioxide diffuse emission at the Tolhuaca hydrothermal system (Chile) controlled by tectonics and topography

چکیده

The Tolhuaca hydrothermal system is one of the few attested geothermal resources in Chile. While recent investigations provided some insights into depth and temperature reservoirs chemical mineralogical evolution system, little still known about CO2 degassing local shallow control fluid pathways. Here, we document soil distributions southern part at its northern fumaroles, provide a first estimate total release. surveyed area responsible for emission up to 30 t d−1. Hydrothermal emissions (~ 4–27 d−1) are mostly restricted thermal manifestations or generally distributed along NNW trending lineaments, sharing same orientation as volcanic vents springs fumaroles. fluxes, fumaroles encountered topographic lows, close vicinity streams often clay-rich pyroclastic units, highlighting relation between landscape activity system. We suggest that glacial unloading incision stream inside units have likely enhanced locally permeability, creating preferential pathway migration deeper surface. As several systems Andes found on flank volcanoes hosting glaciers, propose they could had similar development

Synthesis of Carbon Spheres of Controlled Size by Hydrothermal Method

Carbon Spheres were fabricated by hydrothermal method and their structural properties were investigated. Carbon Spheres with average sizes around of 230, 320 and 430 nm were synthesized in different concentration of glucose aqueous solution and different hydrothermal reaction time. The temperature of 180 °C by a hydrothermal reaction was fixed in all of glucose concentration and hydrothermal re...

Carbon Dioxide Emission Standards

On June 25, 2013, President Obama announced his plan to introduce carbon dioxide emission standards for electricity generation. This paper proposes an efficiency analysis approach that addresses which emission rates (and standards) would be feasible if the existing generating units adopt best practices. A new efficiency measure is introduced and further decomposed to identify different sources’...

Tectonics, topography, and mammalian diversity

Terrestrial vertebrates show striking changes in species richness across topographic gradients. For mammals, nearly twice as many species per unit area occur in topographically complex regions as in adjacent lowlands. The geological context of this pervasive biogeographic pattern suggests that tectonic processes have a first-order impact on regional diversity. I evaluate ecological, evolutionar...

The Reactive Chemisorption of Carbon Dioxide at Mg(100) Surface

X-ray photoelectron and electron energy loss spectroscopic (XPS-EELS) studies reveal that the following species are present when a mixture of CO2 and water vapour is exposed to the clean Mg(100) surface at 110K: CO3(a), C(a) CH(a), OH(a). The reactive chemisorptions of CO2 and H2O vapour coadsorbed on a Mg surface ...

Evaluating the effects of energy and economic growth on Carbon dioxide emission (using spatial panel data)

Energy is one of the most important inputs in production. Energy usage and energy diffusion of fossil fuels in process of production cause greenhouse gases (CO2) emission and destruction of environment. According to the importance of issues like energy usage and economic growth, this paper, concerning the effects of proximity, evaluates the effects of energy usage and economic growth on emissio...
